Intel Reports Suggest Jaish, Hizbul Planned Attacks In J&K Ahead Of Republic Day livemint.com
As Jammu and Kashmir gear up for the Republic Day, intelligence agencies have uncovered plots by Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) to carry out attacks in the region. The inputs come amid encounters in south Kashmir over the last week. According to intelligence reports that Mint had access to, “terrorists have got instructions to carry out" grenade and fidayeen (suicide) attacks,“ on or before 26 January" in Shopian, Badgam and Pulwama in Kashmir as well as Bhatindi and Narwar areas of Jammu, along with the sensitive Sunjwan army camp.
A “joint coordination meeting of eight terrorists including JeM commander Zahid Manzoor, and JeM terrorists Uzair Baba, Zaved Ganai and Yasir Parray, Hizbul terrorist Adil and a foreign terrorist Idrish" was held at Rajpura in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on 30 December, wherein “Parray and his associates have been nominated to carry out fidayeen attack" on the army camp belonging to the 44 Rashtriya Rifles in Shadimarg and Ahagam in Shopian, according to the intelligence reports.
