The Pakistani Army has escalated the matters by indulging in a series of ceasefire violations since the abrogation of provisions of Article 370 that withdrew the special status of J&K. More than 15 houses in a village in the Gurez sector in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) were gutted after heavy Pakistan shelling which left hundreds of villagers homeless. India Today TV reached the village in Gurez where the villagers were left in shock after their houses were reduced to ashes after the unprovoked heavy shelling using artillery guns by the Pakistan Army. The Pakistani Army has escalated the matters by indulging in a series of ceasefire violations since the abrogation of provisions of Article 370 that withdrew the special status of J&K. In the Gurez sector, it started with small arms firing but within minutes, the Pakistani Army resorted to artillery shelling.
Within minutes, the bunker where people had gathered to find refuge was shelled, forcing people to look for another shelter. There was one bunker for hundreds of villagers where people hid for safety. The Indian Army has been retaliating and there has been heavy damage to the military establishments across the border in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). The artillery shelling from the Pakistani side has also left the children shocked who have refused to attend schools, fearing it would happen again.
