Nazir Ahmad Bhat’s father in law of Tanveer Ahmad had approached every single authority making a plea to release him for some days so that the wedding ceremony of his daughter and Tanveer should be done.
To avoid any protest after the revocation of Article 370 from Kashmir, the center had ordered the Jammu and Kashmir’s police to arrest leaders of Kashmir. Authorities have described those detained as threats to public order or likely to participate in protests that could turn deadly.
Among the big names like Farooq Abdullah, Umar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti who are under the preventive detention, a man named Tanveer Ahmad who is a business graduate and sarpanch of his village were also arrested a day after the parliament passed the historic law. Tanveer’s family is in distress but another man related to him is more traumatized by his arrest. With the nikahnama (marriage certificate) of his daughter in hand, Nazir Ahmad Bhat visited around half-a-dozen newspaper offices in Srinagar’s press enclave. He has a request for authorities: “Please release my son-in-law for his wedding.
