LoC Sacrosanct, But If We Have To Go Across, We Will timesnownews.com
Days after revealing that Pakistan has activated the Balakot terror facility, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, on Sunday, issued a stern warning that the Line of Control between India and Pakistan will remain sacrosanct as long as Islamabad remains quiet and does not vitiate the atmosphere.
According to a Times Now channel report citing Rawat’s interview to a publication, the Army Chief also reiterated that that surgical strikes in 2016 and the Balakot strike conveyed a strong message to Islamabad that it will no longer be a ‘hide and seek’ game and that the Indian Army will not hesitate to cross over if it has to go across the LoC.
Rawat also said that Pakistan’s latest call for jihad over Kashmir would not have come if there was no existing infrastructure within that country to send terrorists across India.Ït is a tacit acceptance of their support to terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir” Rawat said.
Expressing surprise over Imran Khan’s repeated references to nuclear weapons in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Rawat said that strategic weapons are meant for deterrence and not for conventional war. He added that Pakistan’s statements indicate its inappropriate understanding of nuclear weapons. Rawat, who will take over as Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (CoSC) after Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa’s retirement, had earlier said that Pakistan had reactivated Balakot terror camp. According to intelligence inputs, over 250-300 terrorists have been waiting to infiltrate into India.
