He said that following specific information about the transportation of drugs, a checkpoint was established at Tral-Chaankatar crossing on Monday. ”Police intercepted two persons at the checkpoint and during checking recovered 1600 Tablets of Spasmoproxyvon,” he said.

Two drug peddlers, identified as Mohammad Ayoub Khan and Abdul Qayoom Sheikh, were immediately taken into custody. ”Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to nab other people involved in drug trafficking,” he added.

He said community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood, adding persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
