In the month of November successive Western Disturbances have been affecting the Western Himalayas. The first Western Disturbance which has given fairly widespread rain and snow over Jammu and Kashmir, the union territory of Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand was around November 7 and 8. Thereafter, on November 11 another Western Disturbance approached the hills of the North.
The upcoming Western Disturbance will be the fourth system and at present is lying over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. This system is likely to give fairly widespread rain and snow on November 26 and 27 over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand leading to obstruction in traffic. Freshly accumulated snow may trigger an avalanche in parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Mudslide and landslide can also be a possibility in parts of these regions.
