4 Months After Article 370 Move, Kashmiris Continue To Suffer Due To Internet Ban indiatoday.in
It was on this day – in August – when the ground realities in the Valley changed. Article 370 was gone and the state of Jammu and Kashmir stopped existing like it used to. Four months on, the common people in the Valley continue to suffer from the aftermath of that big decision. Thirty-six-year-old Umar is running from pillar to post to find an internet connection in Srinagar. He has to upload the documents of his younger sister as a mandatory requirement for the National Eligibility Entrance Examination (NEET), a highly competitive test through which science students secure admission in medical colleges across India. On Monday, the National Testing Agency issued forms for the exam. However, there are thousands of aspirants such as Umar’s sister who are worried as the internet continues to be blacked out for the common public in Kashmir.
