Former chief ministers Farooq and Omar Abdullah won’t take the legal recourse for quashing their detention order till political workers and leaders detained since the revocation of Article 370 on August 5 are released.
The National conference MP from Anantnag Hasnain Masoodi told IANS.
“In our meeting with the detained leaders on October 6, it was agreed that the legal option for release of Farooq and Omar Abdullah won’t be considered until all political detainees since August 5 are released,” Masoodi said.
He said he has not been granted permission to meet with the Abdullahs despite repeated requests.
Our last meeting took place on October 6,” Masoodi said. “Ever since we made several requests for a meeting with the Abdullahs, permission has not been granted so far,” he added.
Abdullahs were among a host of politicians detained in Kashmir since August 5.
Another former chief minister and president of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti is also undergoing detention.
