About 11 airports in Jammu and Kashmir and two airports in Ladakh have been chosen for a bid under the central government’s regional air connectivity scheme, UDAN, which translates to Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik. According to an announcement made through a press release, this is the fourth round of UDAN, and 688 routes have been already given to different air operators so far.
The 11 airports in J&K are Chamb, Chushal, Akhnur, Fukche, Gurex, Jhangar, Miran Sahib, Poonch, Panzgam, Rajouri and Udhampur. The aerodromes in Ladakh are at Kargil and Those. As per the reports, the civil aviation ministry wants to concentrate on the North East Region, hill states, J&K as well as Ladakh.
