2 Militants Killed, 2 Soldiers Injured In Awantipora Encounter indiatoday.in

Two militants were killed and two soldiers injured during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Awanitpora region today morning. The militants are yet to be identified. The joint operation against the militants was carried out by the CRPF, the Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Initial reports said the encounter took place in Satpokhran Khrew area of Awantipora. At present, firing has stopped at the encounter site. The area was cordoned off after security forces received specific inputs about the presence of some militants in the area. There was a brief exchange of fire and additional forces have reportedly been brought in. In a tweet about the encounter, J&K Police said, “Encounter has started at Awantipora. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
