78 More Test Positive For Dengue, Total Number Reaches 195 thenorthlines.com
In the last 10 days, 78 patients have been tested positive for dengue in Jammu and Kashmir, taking the number of people affected by the vector-borne disease this year to 195. The majority of the patients have already recovered fully, while the condition of rest of the people is stable, an official of the Health Department said. He said a total of 1040 blood samples were taken for screening since January this year, out of which 1023 were tested. Out of these 1023 samples, 195 have been found positive for dengue from January 1 till this evening while the rest of the samples was found negative.
Jammu district accounted for the highest number of 67 dengue cases, followed by 56 in Samba, 22 each in Kathua and Rajouri, six in Udhampur, two each in Poonch, Ramban, Kishtwar and Kashmir and one each in Reasi and Doda, the official said. Three patients were from outside the State, while the address of nine others remained unknown, he said, adding that out of 22 cases in Rajouri, nine have got infected outside the State.
“None of the patients who are still undergoing treatment at various health centers and hospitals are serious. All the patients are stable and have shown a positive response to the treatment,” the official said, adding to date no death has been reported from any part of the State due to dengue. He said there is no need to panic as all necessary measures have been taken to keep the situation under control.
