CRPF Jawans Attacked With Grenade At Srinagar’s Habak Chowk By Suspected Militants latestly.com
A grenade attack was reported on Wednesday at Srinagar’s Habab Chowk, where a group of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were stationed. As per preliminary reports, suspected militants hurled grenades at the CRPF troops before fleeing away from the spot. No casualties were so far reported in what appeared to be an insurgent attack. A search operation has been launched by the paramilitary forces along with Jammu & Kashmir police personnel to trace the attackers. The militant activity in the erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir capital comes days after a CRPF personnel was injured when a grenade was lobbed at him in Kawdara locality of the city.
A couple of militant attacks, reported within a span of last six days in Srinagar, may end up further delaying the upliftment of communication restrictions in the Kashmir Valley. Internet connection, along with phone and landline services, was clamped down in J&K on August 5 last year, hours before the Centre passed an executive order to revoke the region’s semi-autonomous status. While landline telephone services were restored in September, the restrictions on post-paid were lifted in October.
