Economy Is Modi’s Biggest Challenge, Says Amar Ujala, Dainik Jagran Calls CDS ‘Historic’ theprint.in
Dainik Jagran talks about the role of youth in India. Prime Minister Modi in his radio programme Mann ki Baat said that today’s youth want to follow the system and they will question it if it doesn’t work properly. The irony is that politicians want to run the system with old thoughts. PM Modi also said that millenials will play a crucial role in shaping future generations.
Dainik Jagran comments on the appointment of General Bipin Rawat as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). The Modi government’s approval for the CDS post is remarkable and in national interest. The position is a tool to change the military system. After the Kargil war, a CDS was needed as India faced lack of coordination between the three forces. However, it is only now, with the Modi government that this post has come into existence. Today, it is necessary and a historic development in world affairs.
Amar Ujala talks about the decisions taken by the Modi government in its second term from triple talaq, to the revocation of Article 370 and subsequent bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories. The Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizens have created a debate between pluralism and majoritarianism. Now, the biggest challenge for Modi is the economy. RBI has predicted 6 per cent GDP growth in the coming year. However, this is not going to fulfill Modi’s vision of making India a $5 trillion economy.
