Government To Take Foreign Envoys To Jammu And Kashmir To Show Ground Situation timesnownews.com
The Indian government is all set to take yet another group of foreign envoys to Jammu and Kashmir to show the ground situation, said diplomatic sources on Tuesday. Reportedly, envoys from a diverse set of groupings and countries will be taken to the Valley on January 9 or January 10, 2020. Earlier in October last year, the Indian government took several European Union Parliamentarians to Jammu and Kashmir. The international delegation was invited to visit the Valley after the abrogation of Article 370 that granted special status to the now-defunct state of J&K.
The last visit of foreign parliamentarians had come amid Central government's bid to restore normalcy in the union territory after months of the clampdown. Before the international delegation had embarked on the journey to the Valley, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval met them and apprised them about the developments in J&K and the issue of cross-border terrorism.
