Radha Krishna Mathur, the first Deputy Governor of Ladakh’s separate union territory, is a 1977 batch retired IAS officer of Tripura cadre. He retired as Chief Information Commissioner of India in November 2018. Mathur retired as the Defense Secretary of India on 25 May 2013, two years after he was appointed to the post. He has also served as the Secretary of Defense Production, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of India and Chief Secretary of India and Chief Secretary of Tripura. Mathur, a student of IIT Kanpur, has a keen understanding of defense matters. It is being said that in view of his experiences, he has been given the command of the strategically sensitive new Union Territory of Ladakh. Girish Chandra Murmu, who became the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, is a 1985 batch IAS officer from the Gujarat cadre. He is considered one of Prime Minister Modi’s trusted. He was also appointed as the Secretary of the Department of Expenditure in the Union Finance Ministry.
