Senior Hurriyat leader of Jammu and Kashmir Abdul Ghani Butt has urged the international community and the global human rights organizations to address the miseries of ‘imprisoned’ Kashmiri people. In a statement in Srinagar on Sunday, Ghani said the lockdown imposed by India since the 5th of August this year has made the lives of Kashmiri people terrible. Meanwhile, the situation Kashmir valley and parts of the Jammu region have become worst due to the continued closure of the Srinagar-Jammu highway.
Additionally, as earlier reported by the Hindustan Times, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) of India which is deployed in the volatile Jammu and Kashmir has warned New Delhi about the extended lockdown in the region may give people a fresh chance “to start a new wave of protests and armed struggle”.
