Jammu and Kashmir Local Body Election Results 2019 Live Updates: Nearly three months after the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was removed, polling in the state block development council (BDC) began on Thursday morning amid tight security. At 11 am, voter turnout in Rajouri was recorded at 62.93 per cent, in Udhampur 50.39 per cent and Reasi 53.88%. The results for the BDC will be announced later in the day.
The Block Development Council forms the second tier of the Panchayat Raj system in J&K. All the 23,629 panches and 3,652 sarpanches of the Panchayats will vote to elect the chairperson of the Block Development Council. There are a total of 316 blocks of which elections will be held on 283 blocks.
