Jammu And Kashmir's First Female Racer Hopes To Make A Splas timesofindia.indiatimes.com
One won't normally associate Jammu and Kashmir with motorsports, that too concerning state's women. Humaira Mushtaq, the state's first female racer, however is trying hard to break barriers. She recently made her debut in the JK Tyre National Racing Championship in Coimbatore. Born and brought up in Jammu city, the 23-year-old, an ardent Sachin Tendulkar fan, said there was a need to change people's perception towards the region.
"It's not about where you live, it's about how you live. I personally feel I am not feeling isolated or suffocated anywhere. I will do whatever I can and I won't like people seeing Jammu and Kashmir as an isolated place. No it's not like that, it's very much a part (of India)," Humaira told TOI. "I want to represent the whole of J&K. While I don't want to get into political things, in my city we have all the access to mobile networks and broadband internet," she added.
