The Lok Sabha has passed Official Language Bill 2020 in Jammu and Kashmir. From now, Kashmiri, Dogri, Hindi, English and Urdu are marked as the official languages of the State. Special efforts to promote Gojri, Pahadi and Punjabi language will also be made. The row over the official language of Jammu and Kashmir was going on from quite a few years, however, now the bill has been officially passed.
While Home Ministry Amit Shah termed it as a momentous day, Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said, ‘Official language of Jammu and Kashmir was Urdu and English. LG informed that people are demanding that Kashmiri, Dogri and Hindi should recognize as official languages’.
