Life In Jammu And Kashmir ‘Normal’, Citizens Enjoying Their Rights dnaindia.com
The administration of the newly-formed Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on Thursday refuted the allegations that civil rights of the people residing in the erstwhile state were trampled upon following the scrapping of Article 370 of the Constitution on August 5, 2019. The UT administration and the Centre instead claimed that the scrapping of the provision has ensured several rights for the citizens for the first time in 70 years.
Appearing for the Centre and the J&K administration at the Supreme Court, Attorney General KK Venugopal and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that not a single person had lost their life because of the restrictions imposed since the scrapping of Article 370, refuting Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad’s claims that life J&K had been ‘paralysed’ following the historic decision.
