The Centre has turned up the heat on Davinder Singh, deputy superintendent of police, J&K Police, days after he was caught by the cops, while he was allegedly transporting terrorists out from Shopian in Kashmir. With the National Investigation Agency (NIA) now set to probe Singh’s case, a Union home ministry official on Thursday said that “NIA has been asked to proceed with investigations while the formal order is issued. Singh was caught with two Hizbul terrorists on January 11. The prerogative to sack Singh is with J&K Union Territory administration.” The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said it is recommending to the central government that Singh be sacked, even as he continues to be quizzed by the J&K Police as well as intelligence agencies.
