Normal life remained affected for the 101st consecutive day Wednesday in protest against revocation of Article 35 A and amendment to Article 370 of the Indian constitution which conferred special status on the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. The decision as taken on August 5 and the same day the state was bifurcated into two union territories.
Shops remained open most of the time on Wednesday in some areas of Srinagar city, especially in the uptown. Increased movement of private vehicles was also witnessed. A few passenger vehicles were also seen ferrying passengers giving a semblance of normalcy.
The train services too resumed partially on Monday after a gap of 100 days on uncertainty in Kashmir, while as the government has decided to resume the services fully on November 16.
However, internet services including broadband as well as mobile internet continued to remain suspended since August 5, leaving the people across Kashmir to lurch at large. The journalists, working in different organizations also held a protest on Monday after 100-day internet gag and demanded immediate restoration of the services.
