Re-Building The Temples Of Kashmir: Five Important Historic And Religious Sites That Lie In Ruins timesnownews.com
On September 23, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy, announced that the central government had set up a committee to conduct an extensive survey of closed schools and temples in the Kashmir valley, with a view to restore and re-open them in due time. Reddy also stressed that as many as 50,000 temples were closed, required restoration or destroyed entirely in the Valley.
Reddy’s statement comes only months after the government moved swiftly to abrogate the special status that Jammu & Kashmir had under Article 370. The effect of the move has been to align the legal provisions that J&K has, with those of all other states within India.
